Welcome to Orion College
Orion College is a community in which every member strives to achieve their maximum potential. Our purposeful environment and shared positive attitude make the College a special place to learn. It is my privilege to lead such an inspirational group of people.
As a College we expect that everyone makes progress all of the time. Whether in our academic studies, during extra-curricular activities or in everyday interaction, the motivation to better ourselves is key to our success. Within this we recognise that getting the little things right really matters; our students lead by example by being in school and ready to learn, every lesson of every day. The strong relationships that develop between staff and students are fundamental to ensuring that we maintain the highest possible standards and that all students know what they need to do to make progress.
We have exceptionally high levels of academic achievement and demand that all of our students do their upmost to ensure success, but we also believe that education should be wider than this. We actively promote the Collegiate motto ‘Learners of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow’ and encourage students to take full advantage of all of the extracurricular and enrichment activities on offer. Indeed, every student is expected to engage with the extensive extra-curricular programme the Collegiate has to offer and our students work hard to raise money for many charities (including The Lilly Foundation, Shooting Star Chase, The Poppy Appeal and MacMillan Cancer Care). Consequently, Orion students become confident, inquisitive, versatile young adults who take full advantage of the education on offer at Riddlesdown.
Our students, staff and parents all Aim High and demand the best of ourselves and each other. The success that the current and previous students of Orion College have achieved, provide inspiration for the future. Orion is a college of which every member is proud, in which only the highest standard is acceptable, and in which there is progress by everyone, all of the time.
